Counseling services are available to all students and are an integral part of the total school program. The counselors work with students, teachers, administrators, and parents in a variety of ways to help meet the need of the whole child.
Our counselors help to facilitate student growth by:
Coordinating and participating in the classroom guidance program
Working with children individually and in small groups to support academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development
Consulting with staff members regarding student needs
Working with parents to provide resources and support
Collaborating with other members of the District Pupil Service team to support a comprehensive program and address student transitions
School Psychologist
The school psychologist, in partnership with other school staff, assists in effective and efficient school-wide implementation of a Response to Intervention (RtI) framework for both academic and social/behavior functioning. As part of this framework, the school psychologist serves as in the coaching role in the implementation of school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Within this system, the school psychologist will facilitate the Problem Solving Team (PST) process including the analysis of student data and collaboration with grade level teams to support implementation of interventions. In addition to school-wide efforts, the school psychologist may provide counseling as it relates to social - emotional development and support families by providing community resources. The school psychologist also facilitates the special education process in conjunction with the special education department staff for students with disabilities. The role of the school psychologist in all of these efforts is to enhance student learning and overall well-being of the whole child.
