Thursday letter from Ms. Heffron and Ms. Salomon: May 25, 2023
Spring Sing, our annual all school performance and art display, is Wednesday, May 31st, starting at 1:15. We LOVE this event and hope you will join us on the playground blacktop. The weather is predicted to be very warm. Students should bring towels to sit on, hats, water bottles, sunglasses and sunscreen if you choose (which students have to apply on themselves). Families can set up chairs and blankets AFTER 12:00 PM, as the playground is needed for recesses before this. One hour parking restrictions are lifted around Cumberland during this event, except for marked handicapped spots, of course. Further details are in the Notes section below.
Spring Sing T-shirts will be sent home with students today. A few extra shirts were ordered, which will be available on a first come basis. Please email Ms. Cruz if you wish to purchase one of these extras: samantha.cruz@wfbschools.com
The photos above are from last year’s Spring Sing and we look forward to making new memories this year!
Playground safety before and after school: As people arrive in the morning and for 15 minutes after dismissal, it is unsafe for roller blading, skateboarding or bicycle riding on the playground. We will appreciate you reinforcing this message with your children.
We are sure you noticed how neat and tidy our grounds look this week. Thanks to the PTO for holding a Clean Up and garden enhancement event last weekend!
Math Newsletter: We are excited to offer our final issue of Mathematically Speaking for the 2022-23 school year. A few words from the WFB Math Coaches Jodi Schmidt (Middle School), Matthew Skinner (Cumberland), Susan Jones (Richards), and MTSS Coach, Beth Sutherland (High School). Our focus is on Productive Struggle and how it can help our students develop perseverance, a deeper understanding of mathematics and promote long term gains for their brains.
We appreciate your words of support and thoughtful questions related to yesterday’s Administrative Hold and Lock Down. Taking our charge seriously of keeping your children safe, we did yesterday, and always will, respond in real time to situations. It is important for you to know, too, that we always debrief situations afterward to learn and refine procedures.
Wishing you a lovely long weekend when it gets here, we will see children back on Tuesday after no school on Monday. See you at Spring Sing!
