NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association)
Any student who intends to participate in NCAA Division I or Division II athletics as a college freshman must register and be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center (link is below). Please review the eligibility criteria as the NCAA has minimum core-course requirements and grade point averages for each division that must be met by the student in order to participate in college sports. It's also important to review our high school's approved list of courses on the NCAA website. Please click on the link below for the Guide for the College Bound Student Athlete as it gives important information on the process, planning, and timeline of becoming eligible to play college sports.
Students should register with the Eligibility Center if they are considering playing at the collegiate level - the earlier, the better. By the end of junior year, the NCAA requires the student to submit his/her grades, so please ask the Counseling Administrative Assistant to submit your transcript to the center.
Note: The NCAA Eligibility Center charges a registration fee. The fee can be waived if the student qualified for and received a waiver for the ACT or SAT fee.
NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics)
PlayNAIA.org helps future student-athletes discover and connect with NAIA schools, coaches and athletic scholarships (small college athletics programs). PlayNAIA is also the official clearinghouse for NAIA eligibility. Every student-athlete must register with the NAIA Eligibility Center to play sports at an NAIA college or university.
