The Richards Way
Guided by our district's Focus Plan, we value both academic achievement and the development of the whole child. The Richards staff has been trained in the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework and we have developed the Richards Way as our common, school-wide approach to creating a positive, cohesive, and productive school community.
We know that a safe, orderly, and positive school environment allows learning to flourish. We also know that students benefit from clearity, consistency, and a common language when it comes to behavioral expectations. Through the Richards Way, we will teach, model, and reinforce these three BIG ideas:
- Be respectful and kind
- Be responsible
- Be safe
There are several tools that we will use with students throughout the year:
School-Wide Matrix - through the lens of our three BIG ideas, defines expectations for behavior in each area of our building.
Tiger Roar Levels - defined volume levels for use in various contexts throughout the school day
School Meetings - monthly, all-school gatherings for celebration, reinforcement, and recognition of the Richards Way and of our school community as a whole.
We value each member of our school community and we believe that, through working together, we can make Richards the best it can be! If you have questions or feedback regarding the Richards Way, please do not hesitate to share!
Sincerely, The Richards Way Team
